3rd Daliangshan theater festival to open on Dec 17

The third edition of the Daliangshan International Theater Festival will take place from Dec 17 in Xichang, Southwest China's Sichuan province.

The festival was initiated in 2019 by 25 artists and scholars from home and abroad, and featured more than 300 performances and events. Since then it has become an annual event and the only theater festival in the western regions of China.

This year, the festival received a total of 188 entries, and the types of performances to be presented range from the traditional theater formats of plays and operas to more modern genres including physical theater and pantomime.

Apart from stage performances, other events that will take place include galas, carnivals, forums, award ceremonies and trade fairs. Many of these events will be livestreamed.
